William Henry Gorang, 68, of Port Austin, passed away on August 18, 2018 at his home.

Bill was born on March 11, 1950 in Bad Axe, Michigan to the late Henry and Thelma (McDonald) Gorang.

He graduated from Bad Axe High School in 1968 and attended Ferris State University.  Bill worked for Michigan Oven Company in Caseville from 1974 to 2001, finishing as a Plant Manager.  He joined Perceptive Industries in Plainwell, Michigan in 2004 until he retired in 2015 as an Operations Manager.

On July 1, 2006, he married Belma Schmidt in Kalamazoo.

Bill loved music, played the guitar, piano and accordion.  He also loved racing and golf.

He is survived by his wife, Belma Gorang of Port Austin; his children: Aaron (Jamie) Gorang of Munster, Indiana and Anita (Tamina) of Belleville, Michigan; his grandchildren: Kamden, Keegan, Jordan, Jacob and Niyah; his brother, Larry (Diana) Gorang of Kalamazoo; his sister, Maureen (Dennis) Duggan of Port Austin and many nieces, nephews and cousins.   He is also survived by his brothers-in-law, Tom Schmidt and Steve (Denise) Schmidt and his sister-in-law, Becky Schmidt.

Funeral service for Bill will be 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 23, 2018 at the MacAlpine Gage Chapel in Kinde with Pastor Steve Neuman officiating.  Burial will follow at Port Austin Township Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at the MacAlpine Gage Chapel in Kinde and from 10 a.m. until time of service on Thursday.

Memorial s may be offered to St. John Lutheran Church in Pigeon or A&D Hospice or to the Mechanical Engineering Program at the Huron Area Tech Center.
