Shirley Anne Murray, age 93, of Bad Axe, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2018 at Courtney Manor under hospice care.

Shirley was born in Chandler Township on September 25, 1925 to the late George H. and Laura I. (Siegwart) Shaw.

She graduated from Elkton High School in 1944.

On December 27, 1947, she married Sam Murray.   Together they owned and operated Murray's Clothing Store.   He preceded her in death on September 13, 2007.

Shirley retired as President from Murray's Inc. in 1987.  After retiring, they wintered in Port St. Lucie, Florida.   She was a passionate golfer.   Shirley was a member of Verona Hills Golf Club for sixty-nine years, Sandpiper Bay Golf Club in Florida for twenty-five years and Lost Lake Woods Club in Lincoln, Michigan for forty years.    Shirley was also an avid reader and enjoyed playing Bridge.

Shirley is survived by her son, Patrick Murray and his wife, Laura, of Atlanta, Georgia and their children, Samuel Murray of Atlanta, Georgia and Josephine Murray of Birmingham, Alabama; her daughter, Kathleen "Kay" Brunette and her husband, Al of Kalamazoo, Michigan and grand-daughter, Mallory Murray of Portage.  Shirley is also survived by her brother-in-law, Robert Champagne of Elkton and many nieces and nephews.

Shirley was preceded in death by her siblings: George Shaw Jr., Marge (George) McPhee and Irene Champagne.

Per her wishes, cremation has taken place at Sunset Valley Crematory in Bay City, Michigan.  A memorial mass will take place 11 a.m. on Friday, October 19, 2018 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church (St. Hubert Parish) in Bad Axe with Fr. Robert Howe officiating.   Cremation burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery.  A gathering will be from 10 a.m. until time of service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be offered to the Bad Axe Area District Library.
