Robert "Bob" Joseph DePatty, age 77, passed away on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at McLaren Hospital in Bay City following a long illness.

Born on September 22, 1939, in Detroit, Michigan to Harry DePotty and Joanne Drager. He grew up in Ruth, MI. On October 1, 1956, he joined the United States Marine Corp and fought in Vietnam until October 22, 1962.

Bob and Janet Lynn Morse were married on May 13, 1978 in Las Vegas, NV. They shared 39 years together. In 1986, Bob retired from General Motors where he was a tool and die maker. In 1988 Bob and Jan moved to their favorite vacation area, Port Austin. In his retirement he enjoyed oil painting, wood working, fishing, and playing cards.

Bob is survived by his wife Jan, his daughter Melissa Stirrett-Guza and her husband Jason Guza of Potterville,  his son James and his wife Rachel of Kinde, and his son Michael of Bad Axe.  Bob was a proud grandpa to seven grandchildren whom he adored; Logan, Hannah, and Aidan Stirrett of Potterville, Brandt and Addison DePatty of Kinde, Ean Duke of Coleman and Hazel DePatty of Southfield.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws Ronald and Annabelle Morse, and his son-in-law Chris Stirrett.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the MacAlpine Funeral Home Gage Chapel in Kinde, visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. A graveside ceremony with military honors will be held immediately following at the Port Austin Township Cemetery.

Memorials may be offered to the family discretionary fund.
