Obituary

Regina M. Koglin, 80, of Bloomfield Township, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on October 17, 2019, at her home under hospice care.

She was born on March 19, 1939, to the late William and Margaret (Oswald) Heilig.

On September 9, 1961, she married the love of her life, Gerald Koglin at St. John's Lutheran Church in Port Hope.  Together they lived and worked on the family farm where she enjoyed milking cows and caring for her animals.   He preceded her in death on August 24, 2004.

Regina was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Bad Axe.   She enjoyed cooking and baking pies, going on trips to the casino, and crocheting.   Regina had a heart of gold and would always think of others before herself.  The family sibling bond was very important to her and family interaction was her world.  She loved her grandchildren.

Regina is survived by her children: Margaret (Mark) McAleer of Bad Axe, Shirley (Lee) Miller of  Indiana and Rod (Jeannie) Koglin of Bad Axe; her nine grandchildren: Sean McAleer (special friend, Tawni Hudgins), Andrew McAleer (fiancé Nicole Wachner), Lee (Marlo) Miller, Katherine Miller (special friend, Shawn Horetski), Erica (David) Vickers, Kimberly (Ryan) McCann, Justin (Jenni) Koglin, Cameron Koglin (fiancé Mariah), and Aubrey Koglin (Jaried Gucwa); and 11 great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by her siblings: Catherine Stewart, Bea Drake, Wolford Heilig, Winnie Sageman, Gerry Heilig, Nick Heilig, Jeanette Heilig, and Lucy Hintz; along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by 12 brothers and sisters.

Funeral service for Regina will be 11 a.m. on Monday, October 21, 2019, at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Bad Axe with Rev. Kenneth Lueke officiating.   Burial will follow at New River Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, October 20, 2019, at the MacAlpine Funeral Home in Bad Axe and at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. until time of service.
