Phyllis Ann Coates, age 87, resident of Bad Axe, passed away on December 1, 2014 at Courtney Manor.
She was born September 9, 1927, in Kinde to the late Floyd and Louise (Swackhammer) Jeffrey .
Phyllis was united in marriage to Willet "Glenn" Coates. He preceded her in death on April 1, 1994.
She lived in Detroit for 27 years before moving back to Kinde over 40 years ago. She attended the Kinde First Presbyterian Church. Her hobbies were crocheting, cooking, baking and spending time with her grandchildren. During her working career she was employed by Federal Security, K-Mart and the Bad Axe Seat Belt Plant.
She is survived by her sons, Charles Coates of South Branch, Michigan and Richard (Brenda) Coates of South Branch, Michigan and her daughter, Glennda (John) Cieslinski of Ubly; seven grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Phyllis was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Jeffrey and a sister and brother in-law Annette (Bill) Nugent.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 4th at the MacAlpine Gage Chapel, in Kinde, Michigan. Visitation will be from 2 – 8 pm on Wednesday, December 3rd at the MacAlpine Funeral Home - Gage Chapel in Kinde and Thursday, December 4th from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
Memorials may be offered to the Family Discretionary Fund.
