Paula M. Matteson, 89, of Port Austin, formerly of Detroit, passed away peacefully with her daughter by her side on October 3, 2016 at Courtney Manor.

She was born as Paula M. McHale on May 22, 1927.

On July 10, 1948, she married Roy D. Matteson in Detroit. He preceded her in death in 2005.

Paula was a teacher in the Detroit Public Schools for many years. She enjoyed gardening, yardwork and relaxing by the water.

Paula is survived by her daughter, Pamela Ann Johnson of Port Austin; grandson, Jason (Mellissa) Johnson and one great grandson, Jason James Johnson.

Per Paula's wishes, cremation has taken place at Sunset Valley Crematory in Bay City.

Memorials may be offered to Karmanos Cancer Institute.
