Paul A. Smihal, 77, of Port Austin, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2018 under hospice care at St. Roch's Rectory.

He was born in Cleveland, Ohio on September 21, 1941 to the late Anthony J. and Lauretta (Brinda) Smihal.

Paul was an accountant for many years and owned and operated Smihal & Company.   He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church/Annunciation of the Lord Parish in Port Austin and a member of the Saginaw Bay Yacht Club.

Paul is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Smihal; his children: Paula Weidig and her husband, Owen;  Jackie Gleason and her partner, John Dale; Tony Smihal and his wife, Ann Marie; Norma Smihal and her husband, Marshall and Stephen Smihal and his wife, Jessica.   He is also survived by his sisters, Mary Beth Shimola and her husband, Howard and Christine Widrich and her husband, Ira; nine grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Per his wishes, cremation has taken place at Sunset Valley Crematory in Bay City, Michigan.  A Memorial mass  will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at St. Michael's Church in Port Austin with Fr. Craig Carolan officiating.   Interment will follow at the church cemetery.   A gathering will be at the church from 10 a.m. until time of service.

Memorials may be offered to St. Roch Church/Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish or to Heartland Hospice.
