Nancy Joan Costello
October 6, 1960 – March 7, 2025

It is with deep sorrow and heartfelt gratitude for her life that we announce the passing of Nancy Joan Costello, who was called to the Lord on March 7, 2025, at the age of 64. Born on October 6, 1960, to Corliss (Leach) Lehtila and Virgil Leach in Highland Park, MI Nancy was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, and a kind and selfless soul to all who knew her.

On February 26, 1983, Nancy married the love of her life, Frank Costello, in a ceremony at their family home in Grindstone, Michigan. Together, they built a life filled of devotion and partnership. In 1990, they moved to Kinde, Michigan, where they raised their two children, Stephanie M. Costello and Brent E. Costello. Nancy's children were her pride and joy, and she poured her heart and soul into raising them with her strength and unwavering love.

Nancy is survived by her devoted husband, Frank Costello, and their two beloved children, Brent E. Costello and Stephanie M. Costello. Her legacy also lives on through her adored grandchildren, Jackson W. Costello and Brielle J. Sroka, who brought her boundless happiness and love. She is also survived by her siblings Carol A. (Ronald) Palmer of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, Daniel S. Leach of Kinde, her sister-in-law Judy G. Leach, brother-in-laws Bill C. Costello, Pat M. Costello, Joe P. Costello, and Richard J. Costello. Nancy's life was enriched by her many nieces and nephews, each of whom she cherished and loved as her own including their little ones. Along with many friendships that filled her heart.

Nancy was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Corliss (Leach) Lehtila, her father, Virgil Leach, her stepfather, Bruno Lehtila, siblings Linda S. Leach and Virgil P. Leach, mother and father-in-law, William J. Costello and Elaine A. Costello and sister-in-law Debra Costello.

Nancy had a lifelong passion for animals, which led her to a career in dog grooming. She worked at the Bad Axe Veterinarian for many years before transitioning her practice to her home in Kinde, where she continued to love and care for animals. You could also find her assisting her friend Cheryl with her famous catering.

Nancy loved the sunshine. During the summer you could find her on her back porch or floating in her pool. Even though she preferred the sun, she also found a thrill in snowmobiling, a pastime that brought her many happy memories. One of her favorite joys was her Z28, which became a symbol of the many fun-filled cruises she enjoyed.

Above all, Nancy was a light in this world. She had a rare gift of making everyone feel welcome and loved. Her home, always warm and inviting, was a true reflection of who she was—a place of love, comfort, and joy. Nancy's love for interior decorating reflected her personality—beautiful, inviting, and filled with care and attention to detail. Her home was a sanctuary for her family and friends, a place where laughter was abundant, and filled with love. No one who entered her home ever felt like a guest; they were family.

Nancy's spirit and light will continue to shine through all who knew her. She was a remarkable woman, a devoted mother, wife, sister, and friend. Her love, her laughter, and her warmth will never be forgotten, and she will live on in the hearts of all who were touched by her kindness and joy.
