Obituary

Maxine "Max" Ann Goretski, 61, of Bad Axe passed away suddenly but peacefully on July 3, 2016. She was born in Bad Axe on January 15, 1955 to the late Ervin and Agnes (Jaworski) Goretski. She joined her older sister Eileen to create a family of four. Maxine was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church/St. Hubert Parish. Worship was important to her and she practiced her faith extending kindness and love. Max graduated from Bad Axe High School in 1973 and then attended Central Michigan University where she earned her Associates Degree in business. Max had numerous work experiences including: Hubbard Bank, Kincaid Electric, Ubly Heights Golf Club, Franklin Inn, and Lundy Financial Services. Her outstanding work ethic prompted many to say, "You can always count on Max to get the job done right!"
Maxine will be so missed by her partner, Erik Lundy of Bad Axe; sister Eileen Goretski (Gene Whitfield) of Satellite Beach, Florida; uncles: Bernard (Joan) Jaworski, Frank (Charlotte) Jaworski, Floyd (Dee) Jaworski Jr., and Edward (Marie) Goretski; as well as aunts: JoAnn Pettit, Irene (Eugene) Breuss, Lillian (Kurt) Gossett, Leona Survey, Lorraine (Gerald) Rice, Irene Yaroch, and Helen (Sal) Inda.
She is also survived by her precious Pomeranian "Scooter" who followed her everywhere and totally understood whatever she told him.
Additionally, Max embraced Erik's family as an important part of her life. She is survived by Erik's mother Charlotte Lundy of Torch Lake, sisters Patty Boyd (Bobby) of Florida; Heidi (Dean) Olesko of Grand Rapids; Wendi (Travis) Disbrow of Traverse City. She also spent lots of time at Torch Lake and holidays and fun time as "Aunt Max" to Taylor and Trevor Boyd, Sawyer, Case, and Lundy Olesko; and Halli, Quinn, and Braden Disbrow. Max watched these children grow and experience school, sports, and fun times together. Max loved shopping and finding gifts for Christmas for the kids.
Max was preceded in death by her daughter, Jenna Lynn Kincaid: parents Agnes and Ervin Goretski, uncles, Chester Jaworski and Ray Goretski and aunts Dorothy Pincoski, Bernice Micklash and Theresa Bodis.
Max led a full interesting life and was loved and was appreciated by so many. She looked forward to playing golf with Erik and her friends. She liked the exercise of running daily and of course walks with Scooter. Max also coordinated all the travel plans for Erik and her as well as friends. Adventures included travel in the US as well as overseas. She enjoyed time with her sister and Gene in Florida and now Tennessee. Max really enjoyed attending athletic events in Bad Axe as well as for nephews and nieces in Grand Rapids and Traverse City. Cooking was such a gift for Max. Many were recipients of her famous carrot cake, other desserts, casseroles and the new barbequed ribs recipe.
Max's faith and thankful expression to God was expressed in her passion for gardening. God's creation was at its finest as Max worked to grow big healthy flowers with vibrant colors.
Maxine was a beautiful classy lady who reached out to others in a humble kind accepting way. She will be unbelievably missed.
