Mary Ruth
O'Nan
Jan 17, 1943 — Feb 25, 2024
Bad Axe
Mary Ruth O'Nan, 81 years old of Bad Axe went to her Heavenly Home on February 25, 2024. Mary was born on January 17, 1943 to the late Lindsey and Violet (Taylor) Brock in Harlan Kentucky. When she was a child, her family moved to Michigan and later she met the love of her life, William O'Nan. She had considered getting her nursing degree, but chose instead her MRS degree and became the wife of Bill, and they were married on September 12, 1964. This year they would have celebrated 60 years of married life. Together they raised 5 beautiful daughters.
Mary was a member of the Community Wesleyan church in Elkton. She was known for her ministry of song as early as her teen-age years, and she and Bill often joined their voices together sharing at local camps, churches and meetings. Her Faith was very important to her and everyone that met her could always feel the presence of God. She was very involved in her church, only recently retiring as church secretary. She had a heart of Gold, and was very nurturing and caring to everyone she met. She was "Mom" to many and would do what she could to help in anyway. Mary loved to read, and her family often benefited from her wonderful baking. She loved her family and they were the center of her life.
Mary is survived by her husband Bill; daughters Julie O'Nan, Tammy Bishop, Susan LaPratt, Jennifer (Wendell) Harvey, Kathy (Brett) O'Nan; grandchildren Hope, Faith, Angelene, Christopher, Magdalene, Kyle, Natasha, Mariah, Ryan, Tyler, Alexander, Maurice, Zavion, Quincy, Colton; eleven great-grandchildren; brother Jim (Carol) Brock; sisters Barbara (Ray) Curling, Joyce (Jeff) Adams, Janice (Andy) Manz, Shirley Gira, Darlene (Gary) Goodin; brothers and sisters in-law Debbie Brock, Wanda LaForge, David O'Nan, Daniel O'Nan, Naomi Murray and many nieces and nephews.
