Marsha
Kennedy
Nov 7, 1943 — Aug 19, 2017
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marsha Lee Kennedy , at the age of 73, after a long battle with cancer on August 19, 2017. She was surrounded by her loving family as she passed away peacefully at home under Compassus Hospice care.
Marsha was born in Detroit on November 7, 1943; the only child to the late Emmanuel J. and Helen (Fick) Warren.
Marsha married Brian Thomas Kennedy in December 1980 in Brighton, Michigan. They moved to Ubly in 2005 where they bought a farm to raise many animals. Marsha was a huge animal lover: llamas, chickens, geese, ducks, rabbits, goats, cats and many dogs call the farm their home. Dogs seemed to know that the Kennedy farm was a safe haven. A couple of them just showed up on the doorstep. It was believed that Marsha would feed her dogs before feeding herself.
Marsha loved gardening, crocheting, attending her knitting club, listening to music, serving the Lord, and spending time with her family. She enjoyed attending the Livingston County LACASA Garden tour every year with her daughter, Karen. Marsha loved to listen to music. She could always be seen tapping her foot to something. Santana, Doobie Brothers, Bruno Mars, Moody Blues were among her favorites. Marsha was owner of Bad Axe Iron and enjoyed helping Brian at the many art shows they attended with their iron work. Marsha made many afghans that she donated to hospitals for the babies. Marsha was a very giving person and full of life. She was a fighter to the end.
Marsha is survived by her husband, Brian Kennedy of Ubly; her two beautiful daughters, Karen (Smith) and Kenny Newell of Fowlerville, Michigan and Kristina (Smith) and Thomas Maidlow of Gregory, Michigan; three grandchildren: Chelsea Maidlow, Caroline (Maidlow) Kouns and Samantha (Maidlow) Nelson; and seven great grandchildren, including 6 week old, Finley Joseph Miller.
Per Marsha's wishes, cremation has taken place at Sunset Valley Crematory in Bay City.
A memorial service will take place 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at the MacAlpine Funeral Home with Rev. Don Ault officiating. There will be a gathering from 10 a.m. until time of service. Burial will take place at a later date at Hillside Cemetery in Argyle, Michigan.
Memorials may be offered to the Thumb Animal Shelter.
