Marie
Goretski
Nov 12, 1935 — Dec 17, 2019
At the age of 84, loving mother of four children, Marie Goretski of Kinde lost her battle with cancer on December 17, 2019.
Marie was born November 12, 1935 to the late Karl and Margaret Byarski. Marie attended North Huron Schools where she graduated Salutatorian and was united in marriage to Edward Goretski on September 7, 1957. The couple made Kinde their home, started a family and raised four beautiful daughters. She retired from First of America bank in Kinde and managed the bookkeeping for her and Ed's business, "Thumb Excavating."
She was a lifelong member of St Mary/St Edward Catholic church of Kinde. Marie's greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially enjoying her grand and great grandchildren. She and Ed loved hosting people at their beautiful "Honeymoon" cottage in the woods. She was the light in the room whenever she walked in; her loving smile was contagious to everyone she met. She loved animals, birds, visiting, helping those in need, going to the casino, bowling, playing cards and spending time with those she loved. Marie was a caregiver to everyone, a mother and grandmother to anyone in need, the size of her heart is only eclipsed by the amount of joy she gave others in return.
She is survived by husband of 62 years, Edward Goretski, daughters: Monica (Rod) Rice of Kinde, Cheryl (Chris) Peyerk of Kinde, Janet (Leroy) Hatch of Kinde, Julie Schipinski (Mike Ornowski) of Filion, grandchildren: Christina (John) Krebs of Kinde, Tony (Jessica) Hatch of Port Austin, Keri (Ryan) Tenbusch of Rapson, Matthew Hatch (wife, Michelle Sieve) of Ubly, Leah Schipinski of Cass City, Mallory (Jared) Kiehl of Verona and great grandchildren: Isabella and Brooke Tenbusch and Jack and Ava Krebs.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents, Karl and Margaret Byarski, son-in-law Stephen Schipinski and niece Crystal Netschke.
Per Marie's wishes, cremation has taken place at Sunset Valley Crematory in Bay City, Michigan.
A memorial mass will be 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 21, 2019 at St. Edward's Catholic Church in Kinde with Fr. Craig Carolan officiating.
Memorials may be offered to the Thumb Animal Shelter.
