Margaret Sylvia Wiley
Oct. 20, 1929 – Jan. 3, 2021
On Epiphany Sunday, January 3, 2021, a beautiful soul made her way to heaven as she laid in her own bed with loved ones by her side. She is now in the arms of her Blessed Jesus!
On October 20, 1929, Mary Loretta (Litzinger) and John Lester Robbins, welcomed their daughter in Altoona, PA and when she was baptized; she was given the name Margaret Sylvia Robbins. As was tradition for her family, their middle name was the one they went by and mom told the story of going to kindergarten and the teacher calling her by Margaret and she would not respond. No matter what you knew her by; we know her as Mom, Grandma, Great- Grandma, Aunt, and Friend.
We remember her for her deep devoted love of her family. Her love never wavered for any of us! How blessed we are for that. She was a coal miner's daughter growing up in Altoona, PA. She married Edgar Allen Wiley on June 15, 1951, in Lakemont, Altoona PA. Edgar was enlisted in the Air Force and she became a true military wife; with all five of her children being born in different states. Finally, in Port Austin, Michigan, they put down roots and it was her second to last move as Edgar's wife. They purchased property in Kinde, in May of 1973; where in 1976; they built the home where she lived out her life. And if you were to ask Margaret Sylvia Wiley; she would tell you it was a very happy life and she loved nothing more than to see her family together. She will be remembered always in special ways by each of her five children and their spouses, 15 grandchildren and their spouses, and 19 great- grandchildren. Each of us have cherished memories that will forever remind us of her unconditional love through every good and bad time we were experiencing.
We remember her for what she loved to do: have her Apple Jacks every morning, her French Vanilla Cappuccino with her meal, having cream soda in the house was a must, eating ice cream as a food group: her favorite was butter pecan, pecan sandies or any Little Debbie snack cakes were always on her little table, having the volume of the television at 100 (although she was thrilled with the headset which she used for years: so were those who lived with her), and for her being a true night owl. She didn't care much to cook and was always grateful for the microwave. You will even find a microwave cookbook in her closet. Before it became hard for her; she loved bowling and golf and had many great friendships because of these activities. There are even a couple trophies showing she was quite competitive as well. Margaret Sylvia loved her faith and for many years was a part of a Ladies Bible Study group and these ladies loved each other so very much. She was ever grateful for their friendship as she became a young widow when Edgar passed very suddenly, on Feb 10, 1985. These friends kept her engaged in life and gave her purpose for each day. She enjoyed some wonderful travels as well and made great memories with each trip. Oh, the stories, she could tell!!
