Lee Roy Murphy, 86 years old of Bad Axe, passed away suddenly at his home on Thursday, April 23, 2026, with his wife by his side. Lee Roy was born May 23, 1939 in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Woodrow and Elnora (Jones) Murphy.  Lee Roy married Christina Taylor on August 29, 1996 and they enjoyed 30 years of being together.

Lee Roy retired from Ford Motor Company after 25 years with them. Lee Roy's greatest enjoyment was watching football on TV. He enjoyed going for rides with Christina and stopping at the lake to sit and watch the sunsets. He always made time to talk often with his children and hear about the lives of his grandchildren. Lee Roy had a passion for old cars and loved to look at them when the opportunity would arise.

Lee Roy is survived by his wife Christina; children, Sharon Bayens, Lee Jr. "Bugg"  Murphy, Cindy (Ronnie) Underwood, Woody (Stacy) Murphy grandchildren Kenny (Cayce) Bayens, Phyllis (Shaun) Clemons, Christopher (Courtney) Murphy, Cheri Underwood, Tiffany (Cary) Ahart, Addison Murphy, Morgan Murphy; 3 step-grandchildren Taylor, James, Tori; 9 great-grandchildren; 9 step great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Lee Roy is also survived by his sister Carolyn Davis.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Junior Murphy, Gene Murphy, Jimmy Murphy, a sister Brenda Jones and a grandson Kevin Bayens.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 28, 2026 at 1:00 pm for Lee Roy Murphy at MacAlpine Funeral Home in Bad Axe with Pastor Scott McDermand II officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 until the time of service at the funeral home.
