Obituary

Lea Mary (Connors) Meinhold, 94, of Bad Axe, passed away peacefully at Meadow Lane Assisted Living and Memory Care on May 12, 2023.

Lea was born January 10, 1929 to the late John W. II and Mayme (Mitchell) Connors.

She attended Our Lady of Lake Huron (OLLH) in Harbor Beach where she was especially proud to have been the lead majorette.  Shortly after graduation in 1947, her family relocated to Bad Axe.

She married the late Donald C. Meinhold, on her 21st birthday in 1950 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. They were the first couple to be married in the new church. Together they raised four sons and one daughter while running Meinhold Dairy and Meinhold Car Wash before retiring and happily snow-birding to Country Lakes Village, Palmetto, FL.

Golfing was her favorite pastime.  She also enjoyed dancing and socializing with friends and neighbors.  She was a member of Verona Hills Golf Club and Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Surviving is her sister, Ellen Mackowiak; her children, Tom, Jan and Jim; six grandchildren, Jer(Jen) Meinhold, Aaron (Annie) Meinhold, Kate Luttenberger, Cari (Bryan) Kitahara, Michael (Jaclyn Siev) Meinhold, and Brian (Maddie) Meinhold,  eleven great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; sister-in-laws, Virginia O'Henley, Delores Dyjak and Ester Connors; daughters-in-law, Sue Meinhold and Deb Abraham; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Lea is finally reunited with her husband, Don; two sons, Paul and Dick; parents John and Mayme; siblings, Jean (Gordon) McBride, Bertha (Laverne) Siemen, Mark (Helen) Connors and John Connors III.
