Kevin Michael
Chappel
Nov 5, 1955 — Oct 21, 2026
Chappel, Kevin Michael
Kinde, Michigan
Our beloved father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend, Kevin Michael. Chappel, passed away peacefully at his residence in the afternoon hours of Wednesday, October 21, 2026, surrounded by his family. Age 70 years. Kevin was born on November 5, 1955 in Pigeon, Michigan to his loving mother, Nancy Lou (Gilbert) Chappel, and late father, William Alfred Chappel Sr. Kevin attended Laker High School and graduated with the class of 1974.
Born into a farming-family, Kevin was a working man through and through. He spent his life on the farm, tending the land and looking after people who mattered most to him. Beneath his hardworking exterior was a heart full of tough love. Kevin cared for his family, his good ‘ol dogs, and the many people he welcomed in his life. To him, family wasn’t always defined by blood, but the love they gave one another. His kids knew that no matter where life took them. Their dad’s door was always open. Kevin enjoyed a trip to the casino to try his luck or any sweet treat he could get his hands on. He also fancied a good Western, and a crisp newspaper; which once finished, was promptly tossed to the floor. He lived for life’s simple pleasures and was proud to do things his own way.
Kevin was truly one of a kind, with a quick wit and wild sense of humor that could leave an entire room laughing. His ability to turn an ordinary moment into a memory was a gift, and his humor will be missed almost as much as his enormous heart. These memories, jokes and lessons about life will live on through his family and friends. Although Kevin is no longer with them, he may live on in all of the hearts that had an opportunity to know and love him.
Left to cherish his memories are his two daughters and a son, Angela (LeRoy Hoppe) Isham of Bad Axe, Beth (Ryan) Rudzis of Dundee, and Troy (Sue) Chappel of Fraser; grandchildren, Troy Jr. (Cheyenne Nash) Chappel, Ashley (Derek) Kildow, Katie (Luke) Duggan, Rachel Mueller, Curtis (Alyssa Holland) Arntz, and Aiden Rudzis; great-grandson, Westyn; mother, Nancy L. Chappel; siblings, William Jr. (Rose) Chappel of Bad Axe, Star (Ken Craig) Langley of Caseville, Terri (Randy) Born of Elkton, Cozette (Willis) Ryan of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, and Ted (Anita) Chappel of Filion; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; and his special companion, Pep, who was by his side until the very end and will miss him everyday. Kevin is happily reunited with his father, William A. Chappel Sr.; brother, Timothy Scott Chappel; and his special friend, Elizabeth Heck; great-nephew, Michael Bradley.
Kevin’s family would like to extend a very special, Thank You, to A & D Hospice; especially Nurse Kassie for the compassion, dedication, and kindness shown to Kevin and his family throughout his final chapter.
The Funeral Service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 27, 2026 at the MacAlpine Funeral Home, 302 Hanselman St. Bad Axe, Michigan 48413. Officiating will be Pastor Randall Waibel. Visitation will take place at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Immediately following the service at the funeral home, family and friends will travel in procession to Colfax Township Cemetery for Committal Prayers and Interment. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer those planning an expression of sympathy to consider a memorial to “A & D Hospice”.
