Gerald (Gary) J. Muntz, 84, of Bad Axe died Sunday, February 16, 2025 at McLaren Hospital in Lapeer, Michigan.

He was born March 2, 1940 in Bad Axe, son of the late Willard and Aletha (Bouvrette) Muntz.  Gary and Judith (Groth) Muntz were married at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Argyle on October 14, 1961.

He was a member of St. Hubert's Catholic Church in Bad Axe his whole life. Gary worked as an office manager at Rooney Contracting for over 46 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, eating Judy's homemade foods, and pressing his luck gambling.  He loved visiting with friends and family, spoiled his pets, took pride tending to his garden, and always made sure his yard was well-kept.  You could often see his freshly waxed vehicles from the road - most notably his 1976 Laguna that Gary would take out for the car shows.

Gary is survived by his wife Judith, children; Douglas (Gwen) Muntz of Bad Axe and Debra (Walter) Baranski of Bad Axe. His brother Wilmer "Bill" Muntz of Bad Axe also survives him. Also surviving are his grandchildren: Brandon (Kari), Breann (Aaron), Kaitlyn, Hunter (Bekka), and Traci; great-grandsons Ayden, Colton, and Liam, and great-granddaughter Ellee.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents Willard and Aletha Muntz, his in-laws Arnold and Beatrice (Lintner) Groth, his brothers-in-law, Harold Groth & Gerald Howard, and sister-in-law Marie Young.

Tissue donation has been completed through the Gift of Life.

Funeral mass will be Saturday, February 22, 2025 at 11:30 AM at St. Hubert Catholic Church in Bad Axe, with Fr. Yesu Mulakaleti officiating. Visitation will be at the MacAlpine Funeral Home in Bad Axe on Friday, February 21, 2025 from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM, and at the church on Saturday from 10:30 AM until the time of mass. Cremation will follow per his wishes.

Memorials may be offered to the family discretionary fund C/O of Judy Muntz.
