He was a Port Austin High School Pirate, graduating in 1959.Gary then went on to spend four years in the Army as a paratrooper. Upon his return, he married Lori Hull in 1968, and they raised two children Jill and Jeff. Gary was a sail maker in Grosse Pointe, worked at Firestone Seat Belt Company in Bad Axe, and started the Buffalo Canvas Co.   Gary retired from Dow of Harbor Beach, which allowed deer to cross M-25 safely and save money on car insurance.

Gary was one of a kind; generous, a good friend and always around to help someone in need. He was a devoted husband, father and known by many as "Papa". His greatest treasures are his grandchildren who could do no wrong. He enjoyed golfing and tinkering at his favorite location, the carwash.
