Frederick G. Valasek Sr., 76, of Port Austin and formerly of Mt. Morris, passed away on November 20, 2019 in Essexville, Michigan under hospice care.

Fred was born on June 1, 1943 to the late Louis and Kathleen (Caswell) Valasek.

On November 23, 1968, he married the love of his life, Jeanette L. LaBerge.

Frederick was in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era.    He retired from General Motors Buick.   Frederick was a member of the Port Austin American Legion, Post 499 and on the Port Austin Water Board.   He loved to fish and hunt; was an avid coin collector and made and sold shark tooth necklaces at the Port Austin Farmers Market for many years.    Jeanette and Fred enjoyed spending the winters in Florida.

Frederick is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jeanette Valasek of Port Austin; his children, Fred (Martha) Valasek of Frankenmuth and Becky Keyser of Port Austin; his grandchildren: Trey (Amanda), Paige, Logan and Sabrina; and one great-grandchild: Spencer.   He is also survived by his niece Sue Vennix and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Gay Ann Diehl.

Per Frederick's wishes, cremation has taken place at Sunset Valley Crematory in Bay City.    A memorial service will take place at a later date.
