Ernest Leroy Burgess, 73, of Lapeer, passed away suddenly on September 23, 2015.

Ernie was born in Berville, Michigan on September 8, 1942 to the late Edsel and Florence (Mapes) Burgess.

Ernie was in the U.S. Navy from July 27, 1960 to September 6, 1963. He was a carpenter, a member of the VFW Post #449 in Port Austin, FOE #2427 in Lapeer, Moose Lodge #2433 in Lapeer and the VFW Post #8154 in Xavier Hills, Florida. Ernie spent half of the year in Florida and the other half in Michigan. He enjoyed card playing, fishing and spending time with his friends, Loretta, John and other friends.

Ernest is survived by three daughters: Dawn Burgess, Pamela (Kevin) Lange and Julie (Eric) Boller; brothers John (Sue) Burgess and Gene (Kathy) Burgess; step mother Donna Burgess, step- brother Carl (Kay) Van Antwerp and step- sister Gail (Paul) Starr and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother Edsel Burgess and sister Evelyn "Susie" Burgess.

Per Ernie's wishes, cremation has taken place. A Private Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
