Edward J. Moore, 88, of Bad Axe, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2021 at Meadow Lane Assisted Living in Bad Axe under hospice care.

He was born in Dwight Township, on September 6, 1933 to the late John and Mary (Mroczek) Moore.

Ed graduated from Kinde High School in 1951 then earned his Bachelor's degree in Accounting at the University of Detroit in 1955.  In 1969, he passed his CPA Exam and moved to Bad Axe.  The most satisfaction of his accounting career was being treasurer of the Jean M.R. Smith Foundation and administer of its scholarship committee.  He received great pleasure in reviewing and selecting Huron County students for scholarships and making payments for tuition and other college costs to the selected students.

He proudly served in the U.S. Army.

In 1958, he married Claudette Boudreau.  Together they had six children, and then later divorced.   Ed then married, Ruth Ann (Knaus) Wilfong on August 20, 1979.

Edward was a member at Sacred Heart Catholic Church/St. Hubert Parish; member and past president of the Verona Hills Golf Club; a past Eagle Scout and a proud member and of the Republican Party of Michigan, where he held several titles.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Ruth Moore of Bad Axe; children: Timothy (Ara) Moore; Stephen (Mandy) Moore; Kathy (Cliff) Reder; Gregory (Lisa) Moore; Susan (David) Hand;  and Edward (Cheryl) Moore; step-children:  Elizabeth Wilfong; James (Mary Lynn) Wilfong, Laura (Michael) Delpiere and Margaret (Kevin) Baker; his grandchildren: Ashley Curfman, Ian Moore, Zac Moore, Chris Reder, Kelli Dixon, Adam Reder, August Moore, Rachel Moore, Jenna Lane, Krysta Vincent, Joshua Hand, Sarah Moore, Justin Moore, Adam Leach, Tim Sloncz, Keith Sloncz, Scott Delpiere, Lindsey Luce, Alex Delpiere, Dustin Buckley, Quinn Buckley and Harrison Buckley; and many great-grandchildren.   Ed is also survived by his siblings: John (Marge) Moore, Bob (Mary) Moore and Jerry (Kathy) Moore.

Ed was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, James and Ginger Moore.

Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Fr. T.J. Fleming officiating.  Cremation burial will take place at a later date at the church cemetery.

Visitation for Ed will be 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, November 22, 2021 at the MacAlpine Funeral Home in Bad Axe with a Scripture service starting at 7 p.m.  Visitation will also be at the church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until time of funeral.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be offered to the Bad Axe Public Schools, the Bad Axe Area District Library or to A & D Hospice.
