Obituary

Doris Ann Bowers, 80, of Bad Axe, passed away suddenly at her home on the morning of her 80 th birthday, June 4, 2017.

She was born in Ruth, Michigan on June 4, 1937 to the late Bernard and Cecilia (Whipping) Holdwick.

Doris was united in marriage to Russell K. Bowers, the love of her life, on October 19, 1957 at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Ruth.   He preceded her in death on March 1, 2012.

Doris very much so loved her Lord and worshiped Him by going to church very often, praying the rosary on a regular basis, and she always prayed for those in needs.  Doris would watch the Catholic Mass on television more than anything else.  She said it kept her going and maintained her strong faith in God.

Over the years, Doris enjoyed walking, playing cards, Bingo, and especially spending time with her beloved grandchildren.

She was a long time member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church/St. Hubert Parish in Bad Axe, Tops Club Inc., Grindstone - Port Hope Sportsman's Club, the Red Hat Society and the Bad Axe Senior Center.  She was also a member of the Daughters of Isabella and named Daughter of the month twice in recent years.

Doris is survived by her son: Todd (Janice) Bowers of Owendale; her daughter: Nancy (Paul) Kipfmiller of Auburn; grandchildren: Bryce, Ethan and Logan Kipfmiller and Shelby, Jessica and Derek Bowers; her brother: Bernard Holdwick; sisters: Grace Burkhard, Margaret (Patrick) Jurgess and Millie (Lavern) Kaufman; brother in law, Lowell Messing and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her sisters: Lucy Moore and Dolores Messing; brothers- in- law, Delbert Burkhard, Richard Bowers, Robert (Genevieve) Bowers and Roger Bowers; sister- in- law, Violet Holdwick; and two nephews.

Mass of Christian burial will take place 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Fr. Rob Howe officiating.  Burial will take place at the church cemetery.
