Obituary

After an inspiring and courageous journey of 38 days on a roller coaster ride of COVID related issues, David Paul Schramski gained his angel wings and went to heaven on January 13 th , 2021 at McLaren Bay Region Hospital in Bay City with his family at his side. Dave was born on August 2 nd , 1957 to the late John and Helen (Rybak) Schramski in Bad Axe.  He was 1 of 8 kids to John and Helen and was raised on the family farm in Kinde, MI where his parents taught him about hard work and dedication, which he carried on for his life and passed onto his kids. Dave graduated from North Huron in 1975 and went on to Michigan State where he graduated in 1977 with an Electrical Technology degree. He married the love of his life Janice (Miller) on Valentine's Day in 1987. He and Janice were blessed with two children, Christopher and Adrienne, who like their dad are able to work hard and still put a smile on everyone's faces. Dave had many hobbies, but he made sure to share his time with his three grandkids. Each one had their own special thing they did with Grandpa: Molly shared his love of fireworks and snacks especially ice cream, Jace and Grandpa would FaceTime frequently and shared a love of arcades, Brody and Grandpa shared a love of being in the woods and riding on his four-wheeler. He was always fond of cutting firewood and doing shots with "The Brothers" and "The Nephews", as he would always call them. Family was something that Dave held dear to his heart and did his best to keep in touch with everyone. Some of his other hobbies included camping, hunting, going for long bike rides, listening to the widest variety of music, and trips to the casino. Dave was well known in the community for doing electrical work as a master electrician, which he found more fun than work; he also worked for TI Automotive in Caro for 35 years where he held many different roles, but was most recently the Facilities Manager. Every September he would help with the Kinde Polka Fest by preparing the wiring to make sure everything would run smoothly. He spent time on the parish council and building committee for Annunciation of the Lord Parish and counted the collection on Sundays. Dave was extremely hard working, and worked for everything he had in life, but was also the biggest kid you would meet. His favorite holiday was Halloween; during one of those fun and memorable October camping trips he gained the nickname "Big Kahuna" while dressed as a caveman and it has stuck ever since.

David is survived by his wife of 33 years Janice, son Christopher (RhiAnnon) Schramski of Kentwood and daughter Adrienne (Tony) Rutkowski of Kinde; grandchildren Jace Schramski, Molly and Brody Rutkowski; siblings: Ed Schramski of Port Hope, Fred (Doreen) Schramski of Kingsley, Jim (Val) Schramski of Bad Axe, Ann (Tom) Smith of Auburn, Paul (Lorrie) Schramski of Kinde, John (Jean) Schramski of Kinde; sister in-law: Linda (Walt) Schramski of Davison, mother-in-law: Eleanor Miller of Port Austin, in-laws Dave (Dana) Miller of Port Austin, Joyce Pode of Port Austin, Diane (John) Reinke of Bitely, Elaine (Tom) Moore of Port Austin, Jeanne (Larry) Hartwick of Kinde. The family would like to thank the ICU staff of McLaren Thumb Region and McLaren Bay Region for the wonderful care and support they provided Dave and the family.

Dave will be greatly missed by his entire family but you do not have to look far to see that he will live on through his children and grandchildren. Life is like a roller coaster, there are ups and downs; not everyone is on the same ride. At times your ride is extremely scary and you close your eyes and cry in fear, but there are times it is fun and you throw your hands in the air and enjoy the ride. From day to day, you don't know what the future holds, but how you hold your head helps shape you into the person you are.

Due to current circumstances and everything the family has been going through related to COVID, they hope everyone understands that at this time there will be a private service only for everyone's safety. The family will be planning a celebration of life later in the year.

In lieu of flowers please make a donation to your favorite charity in his name or to the family discretionary fund.
