Daniel W. Thuemmel, 70, of Port Austin Township, passed away on September 20, 2021 at McLaren Bay Region Hospital in Bay City, Michigan after a long hard battle with COVID.

Dan was born in Bad Axe, Michigan on May 30, 1951 to the late Robert and Verneta Thuemmel.

He graduated from Port Austin High School in 1969.

Dan married the love of his life, Vivian Kosinski, on September 7,  1974 at the United Protestant Church in Port Austin.

Dan loved his dairy farm and traveling to his favorite place, Walt Disney World, in Florida.  He and his wife also hosted 26 exchange students throughout the years.  Dan was also on the North Huron School Board and Port Austin State Bank Board for many years.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Vivian Thuemmel of Port Austin; his children: Tanya Kramer and her husband, Dan, of Kinde, Daniel Thuemmel of Port Austin, Amanda Miller and her husband, Duane, of Kinde and Amelia Osantoski and her husband, Joseph, of Port Austin; his grandchildren: Austin and Cecilia Kramer, Brinley, Thomas and Lainey Miller and Lucy, Eleanor, and Henry Osantoski.  Dan is also survived by his sister, Nancy Schubing and her husband, Alton of Arizona; his  sisters-in-law, Martha Thuemmel of Port Austin and Ethel Thuemmel of Romeo; his in-laws: Don (Diana) Kosinski of Port Austin, Eugene (Tammy) Kosinski of Florida, Colleen Mouton of Bad Axe, Anne Parks of Bad Axe, Cynthia (John) Forbing of Port Hope, Fred Kosinski (special friend, Martha Ann) of Port Austin, Alice Craig of Kinde and Ed (Mary Jo) Kosinski of Elkton; many nieces and nephews and close family friend, Jerome "Jud" Navock.  He will also be missed by his cat, Foz and his dog, Stormy.

Dan was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert and Leonard Thuemmel; Bud Bigger; his in-laws, Eugene and Eleanor Kosinski; brothers-in-law, Gene Craig and John Parks; and his nephew, Brian Schubring.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. on Friday, September 24, 2021 at the MacAlpine Gage Chapel in Kinde with Rev. William O'Nan officiating.   Burial will follow at Port Austin Township Cemetery.

Visitation will be on Thursday, September 23, 2021 from 2 to 8 p.m. at the MacAlpine Gage Chapel and on Friday from 10 a.m. until time of service.
