Dale Allen VanDeVusse, born October 9, 1952, passed away on October 8, 2026 surrounded by his family. He lived a life marked by dedication to his family, friends, and his community.
Dale was a proud graduate of Lansing O’Rafferty High School, where he excelled as an All-State track athlete. His competitive spirit, determination, and love of sports remained a part of him throughout his life.
On February 24, 1978, Dale married the love of his life, Susan Goodman. Together they built a family and shared nearly five decades of marriage. They had two children Rachel and Allen.
Dale began his banking career with First of America Bank, working in Lansing, Perry, and Grand Ledge before transferring to the Harbor Beach and Bad Axe locations. Following First of America’s acquisition by Independent Bank, Dale retired in 2007 as Senior Vice President.
Retirement did not last long. Dale returned to work as Interim CEO of Huron Memorial Hospital, serving in that role for one year. He then transitioned into public service as the City Manager for the City of Bad Axe, a position he held until his final retirement in 2022.
Dale believed strongly in giving back to the communities he called home. Throughout the years, he volunteered his time and leadership to numerous organizations. He served with the Harbor Beach Athletic Association, on the Harbor Beach City Council, and with the Lions Club, including serving as president. He was also a member of the Huron Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees. Dale was a longtime member and past president of Verona Hills Golf Course, where he enjoyed not only the game of golf but also the friendships that came with it.
Outside of work and community service, Dale knew how to enjoy life. He loved playing golf, sitting down for a game of cards, enjoying a beer with good friends, and, most of all, watching his children and grandchildren participate in their sporting activities.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Allen and Dolores (Spitzley) VanDeVusse.
He is survived by his wife, Susan; daughter Rachel (Tim); son Allen (Rachael); grandsons Blake, Bryce, Max, AJ, and Jonathan Dale; brother David (Tammy); sister Shelly; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Dale will be remembered for his dedication, leadership, competitive spirit, quick wit, and love of sports. His legacy will live on through the many people he served, the friendships he cherished, and the family he loved so dearly.
Following cremation, a celebration of life honoring Dale will be held on November 7, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at Verona Hills Golf Club. A time for sharing memories and stories will begin at 4:00 p.m. All of Dale’s family and friends are warmly welcome to join us as we come together to remember, celebrate, and honor his life.
