Clarice Iola Chapek, 91, our beloved grandmother passed away peacefully on January 1, 2015 at Courtney Manor in Bad Axe.
She was born September 23, 1923 in Meade Township to the late Otto and Clara (Schadd) Kleist.
She married Joseph James Chapek on November 9, 1939. Together they farmed and later had a roofing business. He preceded her in death in September 1965. The couple had two children, Anna Marie, who was her caregiver until her death on July 23, 2014 and Joseph Otto who also preceded her in death on March 9, 1997.
Clarice enjoyed visiting with friends and relatives, playing bingo and doing word searches. In her younger years, she loved to waltz and square dance.
Surviving are her grandchildren Barb Couse of Goshen, Indiana; Michele Scoviac of Bad Axe; Cindy Chapek of Elkton; Lisa Chapek of Bad Axe; Bryan Chapek of Bad Axe; and Linda Chapek of Brutus, Michigan. She also leaves behind her daughter in law Carol Chapek, also of Bad Axe; great grandchildren Mike Weiderhold, Cody Chapek, Jessie Chapek and Shawn Weiderhold; great great-grandchildren Mikelle, Danika, Dayton and Carter Weiderhold.
In keeping with her wishes, no services will be held. Cremation has taken place. MacAlpine Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
