Beverly Ann Gahagan, 84, of Bad Axe, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2018 at Huron County Medical Care Facility under Compassus Hospice care.

Beverly was born in Ontario, Canada on January 23, 1934, to the late William and Helena (Williams) Smith.

In September 1953, she married the love of her life, Dr. Bernard "Doc" Gahagan, DVM in Ontario, Canada.  The couple moved to Michigan several years later so Doc could practice veterinary medicine.  He preceded her in death on January 24, 1981.

Beverly was a long time member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.  She was the first female Rotarian for the Bad Axe Rotary.   Beverly worked at the Huron County Sheltered Workshop and at the Huron-Eastern Railway.  She also ran her husband's veterinary clinic.  She enjoyed gardening, crafts, sewing, coloring and crocheting, but her favorite thing was being a grandma.

She is survived by her children: Lauretta Gahagan of Bad Axe, Timothy Gahagan of Sebewaing and Buffie Anderson and her husband, Dave, of Fenton; her grandson, Sean Anderson and many wonderful nieces and nephews who she dearly loved.

Beverly was preceded in death by her sons: Joseph, Shaun and Matthew Gahagan, her daughter, Maureen Giffen; grandson, Michael Anderson; brother, George (Frances) Smith and her sister, Margaret "Peg" (James) Thomson.

Funeral services for Beverly will be 11 a.m. on Monday, May 7, 2018 at the MacAlpine Funeral Home in Bad Axe.   Burial will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, May 6, 2018 at the MacAlpine Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. until time of service on Monday.

Memorials may be offered to the Huron County Special Olympics.
