Betty Lou
Furness
Jan 2, 1943 — Mar 29, 2021
Surrounded by her family, Betty Lou Furness, went home to be with her Lord on March 29, 2021. Her earthly injured soul now healed and cradled in her Lord and Savior's arms.
Betty was born on January 2, 1943 to the late Asa and Lois Apley in Bad Axe, Michigan; where she was a lifelong resident and raised her four children. She spent many years working for the Huron Daily Tribune; memorizing everyone's names on her daily route.
She was incredibly gifted at sewing and knitting; spending many hours making gifts, sewing clothes and knitting blankets for those she loved.
In the early years of Clothe a Child, she would spend hours knitting boxes of handmade mittens to be placed in packages for children. Every year for Halloween, she would bless her four children with hand sewn costumes and continued that tradition with her grandchildren until she was no longer able to do so any longer.
She loved bird and squirrel watching and kept her feeders full to do so. She especially enjoyed her weekly phone calls with her cousin, Marie. She will be incredibly missed by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Betty is survived by her children: Ray (Doreen) Furness, Joe (Karen) Furness; Stacy Furness and Dawn Furness; her grandchildren: Mason, Tia, Preston, Trevor, Cassie, Chandler, Brandon (Paige), Amber (Troy), Greg (Jennifer), Jessica (Cherokee), Eddie and Cierra; and her great grandchildren: Gunner, Elaina, Noah and Zariah. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Cheryl Apley; many nieces and nephews and her fur babies, Zippy and Abe.
She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Amy; her brother, Ron Apley and niece Cheri Thorp.
A private service will be held at the MacAlpine Funeral Home. Cremation is to follow with cremation burial at Colfax Township Cemetery at a later date.
Memorials may be offered to the family (c/o Dawn Furness).
