Aug 6, 1916 — Feb 20, 2017
Audrey Eileen Majeska, 100, of Bad Axe, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2017 at Courtney Manor Long Term Care Facility in Bad Axe.
Audrey was born August 6, 1916 near Marlette, Michigan; the only daughter and oldest child of Edwin and Nellie (Thompson) Gerber. Audrey was married to Walter Adam Majeska on August 8, 1936, and their marriage lasted over twenty-one years, ending with Walter's death in a car accident in June 1958.
Audrey enjoyed music, especially singing; reading novels and short stories, writing letters, cooking, cleaning, homemaking, and driving on short trips to visit family members. She believed in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior: that His grace is a free gift.
She is survived by her daughter: Patsy (Dr. Melvin) Gay, of Rochester, Michigan; son: Alan Majeska of Bad Axe; granddaughters: Rebecca (Charles) Wilson, Catherine (Michael) Clark, Laurie (William) Johnson, Kristine (Thomas) Sickles, Julie Kukla and her special friend, Philip Loiacano; grandsons: James (Clarissa) Marter and Raymond (Terri) Marter; great grandchildren: Diana (Dominic) Oehler, Jacob (Jennifer) Wilson, Zachary (Chelsea) Wilson, Caroline Wilson, Andrew Clark, Daniel Clark, Grace Johnson, Matthew Sickles, Timothy Sickles, Eric (Nicole) Marter, Jennifer (Aaron) Abraham, Nicholas Marter, Avery Kukla, Nolan Kukla, Zachary Kukla, Rachel Marter, and Keenan Marter; great-great grandchildren: Annalynn Oehler, Charleze Renee Oehler, Landon Marter and Olivia Lynn Abraham. Audrey is also survived by a dear sister-in-law, Parthenia "Pat" (Smith) Gerber of Bad Axe; niece, Kay McLellan and nephews, Jerry (Janice) Gerber and Dwain (Janice) Gerber.
Audrey was preceded in death by her eldest daughter, Carol Ann Marter (2012), her son-in-law, Donald Marter (1996), her grandson, Thomas Marter (2007) and her brother, Keith Gerber (2014).
Funeral service for Audrey will be at the MacAlpine Mac Chapel in Bad Axe on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at 12 noon with Pastor Kenneth Lueke, from Our Savior Lutheran Church in Bad Axe, officiating. Visitation will be from 10 A.M. until time of service. Audrey will be laid to rest at White Chapel Memorial Park Cemetery in Troy, Michigan.
Audrey's family gratefully thanks the staff of Courtney Manor for their care of Audrey's medical, physical and emotional needs the past three years.
